Privacy Policy

    Bitby is a focus and productivity app designed for people with ADHD. We are committed to being transparent about what data we collect and why. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
  

1. Who We Are

Bitby is developed and operated by Mykhailo Skovorodin, an individual developer based in Ukraine. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, you can contact us at support.bitby@mriyaforge.dev.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the Bitby experience.

2a. Information You Provide Directly

First name — entered optionally during onboarding, used to personalize reminders and messages within the app.
ADHD challenges — a list of self-selected challenge categories (e.g., "Getting started", "Staying focused"). Used to tailor AI suggestions and app behavior. This is sensitive health-adjacent information — we treat it accordingly.
Tasks — the titles of tasks you create, their steps, status (active, completed, abandoned), time spent, and timestamps. This is the core content of the app.
App settings — your preferences (timer on/off, notification times). Stored to sync your experience across devices.

2b. Information Collected Automatically

Anonymous usage ID — a randomly generated identifier (not linked to your name or email) used for analytics.
Usage events — actions such as completing a task, starting a focus session, or viewing the paywall. Recorded with the anonymous ID only.
AI performance metrics — when you use AI features (task breakdown, help me start, encouragement), we record technical metrics: model name, response latency, and token counts. This data does not include the content of your task or your ADHD profile — only anonymous performance statistics used to monitor service quality and costs.
Subscription and purchase status — whether you have an active Bitby Premium subscription and its expiration date.

2c. Information From Third-Party Sign-In (Optional)

Sign-in is entirely optional. If you choose to create an account using Apple Sign In or Google Sign In, we receive:

Email address — used as your account identifier. We do not use it for marketing.
Full name — used to pre-fill your name in the app. You may use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature to keep your email private.

If you use Bitby without an account, none of the above is collected — your data stays on your device only.

We do not use your data for advertising, do not create advertising profiles, and do not share your data with data brokers.

Note on Google Gemini: When you use the AI task breakdown feature, the title of your task and your ADHD challenge categories are sent to Google's Gemini API. We do not send your name, email, or full task history to Gemini.

5. Data Storage and Security

On your device — all tasks and settings are stored locally using AsyncStorage. An account is not required to use Bitby.
In the cloud (Supabase) — if you create an account, your data is synced to Supabase servers on AWS (us-east-1). Data is encrypted at rest and in transit using TLS.

If you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately at support.bitby@mriyaforge.dev.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (Settings → Delete Account), all data is permanently deleted from our servers. This cannot be undone.

Analytics data in PostHog is retained for 12 months. Because PostHog stores only anonymous IDs, we cannot identify a specific user's analytics data upon request.

7. Your Rights

GDPR (European Union users)

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
Erasure — delete your account via Settings → Delete Account, or by contacting us.
Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
Restriction / Objection — restrict or object to specific processing.
Withdraw consent — disable push notifications at any time in Settings.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support.bitby@mriyaforge.dev. We will respond within 30 days.

CCPA (California, USA users)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

8. Children's Privacy

Bitby is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support.bitby@mriyaforge.dev.

9. Medical Disclaimer

Bitby is a productivity tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure ADHD or any other medical condition. The ADHD profile you set up is used solely to personalize your in-app experience.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you through the app.
